📢 What’s New

SEBI has introduced a major security upgrade for investor payments – Standardised, Validated, and Exclusive UPI IDs (June 2025 Circular No. SEBI/HO/DEPA-II/DEPA-II_SRG/P/CIR/2025/86).

Starting 1 October 2025, all SEBI-registered intermediaries – including Research Analysts, Investment Advisors, Brokers, Portfolio Managers, and Mutual Funds – must collect investor payments only through validated @valid UPI handles.

🧩 What Is a Validated UPI Handle?

A validated UPI ID is a payment address that has been verified by both the intermediary’s bank and SEBI to ensure that funds go directly to the authentic, registered SEBI entity.

Format Example:
👉 vsaravanan.ra@validcub

Break-up:

  • vsaravanan → Intermediary’s registered name
  • .ra → Category abbreviation (Research Analyst)
  • @validcub → Bank name preceded by “valid” indicating SEBI-verified handle

When you make a payment using this ID, your UPI app will display a white thumbs-up icon inside a green triangle — the official mark of authenticity.

🧭 How to Verify Using SEBI Check

SEBI has already launched the official verification tool — SEBI Check.
You can verify any UPI ID, QR code, or bank account of an intermediary here:

Steps:
1️⃣ Visit the SEBI Check portal.
2️⃣ Enter:
 • SEBI Registration Number or Name
 • UPI ID / QR Code / Bank Account Number
3️⃣ You’ll instantly see:
 ✅ Registered Name
 ✅ Category (e.g., Research Analyst)
 ✅ Validated UPI ID
 ✅ SEBI Registration Status

📍Purpose: To ensure investors pay only verified intermediaries, preventing fraud and unregistered entities from collecting money.

⚠️ What You Should Do

✅ When sending any payment to your Research Analyst, always confirm the UPI ID shows:

  • the 👍 icon in green triangle
  • the @valid[bank] ending
  • the correct intermediary name + category abbreviation

✅ Do not transfer to any other UPI ID, QR code, or account that doesn’t match this pattern.
